So, we’re getting sla-ammend! Just got back from checking out the waterfalls. I’m a newbie here but I haven’t seen Rainbow Falls dump like this ever, I usually make it a point to go check it out. I guess I won’t have to again.

I have photos stuck on my phone that I’m using for my internet connection at the moment… Soon they come!

    Get Ready To Ride.

PS Thanks for the call Christian! We go Soon! You’re on the trip.

The “The site may harm your computer” warning has been removed. It took me asking for a review three times, ranting in a forum at stopbadware.org and eventually getting an angry Google / stopbadware supporter.

Apparently, the practice of demonizing website owners isn’t limited to forums. Follow all the online fun in the stopbadware.org google discussion group.

If anyone has been affected by this, please leave a comment. To check your site for a vulnerability, please read below…

Quickly checking through the basic source of your home page, I found this code (Note: I didn’t use all of the code. So ust search for iframe and traffic statistics):

      iframe src=

(I have intentionally added spaces to remove the hyperlink).

I am quite certain that you didn’t put in that. The IP address if of an ISP somewhere in China. (Check out any of the IP lookup website and you will
know). Also I found this entry that has a similar problem.

      http://wordpress.org/support/topic/149745.

It seems that wordpress is quite known to have an iframe injection vulnerability.

Please remove the code above and I am certain you case for removing from the malware sites list will move quicker. Once done, I suggest you take this up
with your hosting provider to find out why this was compromised and efforts to prevent future occurences.

      Best regards,
      Mukul Dharwadkar

    • Brent 10:35 pm on February 24, 2008 Permalink

aloha Tim, lucky we live Hawaii!

I setup your account so you’re now an editor on the site. To create your own post (with photos), just login to the site using your registration info. I just resent the details to your email address.

Once you’re logged in, go to the “Write” link at the top of the page. Then create your post. There’s an upload feature beneath the text editing area -like facebook, myspace etc.

After you’re added your photos and text, just save the post. You’ll see your new post appear on the homepage. :)

If all this web work takes away from your riding time, jess send me the photos in an email attachment and I’ll make it happen. :)

    The Pineapple Express

There’s a storm that generates itself from the top of Mauna Kea. It’s called the Pineapple Express.

Okay, maybe not from the “Top of Mauna Kea” I made that up.

So here’s the url so you can check the road conditions for yourself. It’s been opening and closing daily it seems due to new snow falls. :)

Did anyone get up there to ride yet? How was it?

    • Brent Norris 9:00 am on December 13, 2007 Permalink

They closed the road again yesterday… This morning looks really good but the road is still closed. It “might open in the afternoon”

I recommend going up and waiting at the Visitor Information Station until the road opens.

Were you able to get up there and ride? Wondering how it was?
      Any photos?

    • Snowboardguy 5:25 am on December 17, 2007 Permalink

I am looking for an update of anyone who has been up there in the last day or two and can tell me how much snow there is (is there a solid base or is it real thin and going to hack my board up?

    • Brent Norris 5:59 pm on December 28, 2007 Permalink

Yesterday, WayneBoy reported lots of snow everywhere.

    • Snowboardguy 7:14 am on December 29, 2007 Permalink

    Great SCUBA Diving Locations

All of the great SCUBA diving locations referenced on this page can be accessed from shore without a boat. Great resource. Got any more dive resources?

    No ride Mauna Kea today

The images of the snow on top of Mauna Kea today on Hawai`i Island will make you drool but the road closure will make you cry. We can only hope that one of more of the rescuers yesterday got to ride some of that fresh pow pow…

Anyone want to donate a snowmobile or snow-ready quad for our adventures?

Scientists Stuck on Top of Mauna Kea

That’s the reports we’re getting from the newspapers and radio. Can we be on the rescue team? Should scientist be required to take snowboarding lessons and should they have snowboards on hand for emergencies?

Okay, I’m a little excited. Let’s just hope the roads get cleared.  We’ll be up there in the am with power bars astronomy dudes…

Places to stay near Volcano National Park

The city of Volcano is a bit removed from the rest of the island (and for good reason). So you if you want to stay near the park, your choices are somewhat limited. There are some bed and breakfasts and alternative places to stay with great hospitality and amenities.

Also be sure and check out Hawaii Big Island Volcano Updates before booking your trip. Portions of the park could be closed and could affect the quality of your Park visit.

These are just a few of the obvious choices offered very close to the park -within walking distance.

    • The Volcano House is located in the park across from the visitor center. (808) 967-7321 This place is kewl. You’ll like it.
    • There’s also camping nearby at Namakani Paio (10 minute walk). Reserve your spot through the Volcano National Park Service.
    • There’s also camping at Kulanaokuaiki. Reserve your spot through the Volcano National Park Service.

More information on camping around the Big Island is available through the County and State of Hawai`i.

    Know before you go!

Check the latest volcano eruption update here.

Got another resource to add? Are any of the resource above outdated?
    Please let us know!
